Blessed Eisenhower, thank you for bestowing these great roads on our great land and providing us these paths to joy and prosperity. We only need take them.
Thank you America for a path to true freedom by providing such a wonderful way to make a living. For being such a great canvas of beauty. Such a great diversity of beautiful places and people to make our journey majestic and never monotonous.
Let us be good stewards of our great land and of the people that make our journey great. Let us vow to leave places cleaner and people happier than we found them.
Grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change and grant us the wisdom to change the things we can:
We cannot change aggressive, discourteous drivers; we can drive more defensively.
We cannot change low freight rates; we can manage our costs more effectively.
We cannot change long wait times; we can make efficient use of the time we spend waiting.
I will do my best to ensure that my truck is safe for the journey, but I know that trucking is dynamic and things will happen. So,
I do not expect my truck not to break down,
I do not expect not to get caught in traffic,
I do not expect not to have to wait a long time,
I do not expect drivers to be courteous.
Managing my expectations in this way helps me be grateful each time
I deliver a load safely,
I experience courteousness from a driver,
I am loaded or unloaded quickly,
I don’t breakdown and get to maximize profit on the load.
Help us to remember that it’s not about getting from point A to point B, but it’s the journey along the way. Help us to deeply feel that where we are in this driver’s seat is exactly where we want to be…
Truck On. Truck Safe. Truck Happy.
